10/19/2007 Agency/Certification Update

MEGA Electronics Inc is pleased to announce the release of our new NEMA Locking 7/15P plug. Rated 15A, 277V for 2pole, 3wire applications, the plug is fully molded and UL/cUL listed with 14AWG, 16AWG and 18AWG PVC cables. This is made to order with any length and terminations required.

“This is great opportunity for companies in the lighting industry to see substantial savings as our new plug complete with molded cable is less expensive than purchasing the hand assembled plug alone,” said Guy Francfort, Vice President of MEGA.

10/8/2007 New Product Release

MEGA Electronics Inc. is pleased to announce that we are now able to offer a Nurse Call Button. The basic cable allows the patient to contact a nurse station from their bed. The hand held switch can also be used for various other equipment such as machines testing hearing or eye sight.

10/2/2007 New Product Release

MEGA is pleased to announce that we can now offer Halogen Free cables for European use. This cable with zero halogens is a high security cable. In case of fire, it does not emit toxic or corrosive gases, thereby protecting public health and avoiding any possible damage to electronic equipment. For this reason, its use is recommended in public places such as: hospitals, schools, museums, airports, bus terminals, shops in general, tunnels, the underground, etc., as well as in offices, production plants, laboratories, etc.

To reach the specification: HALOGEN FREE

1.- Does not emit toxic substances: The gases and acids emitted by the combustion of a cable containing halogens are highly toxic for the people exposed to these gases, possibly resulting in death due to poisoning. The M-RZ1-K (AS) cable does not emit any of these substances, thereby considerably improving the overall safety of the installation.

2.- Does not emit corrosive substances: The hydrochloric acid (HC1) given off by the combustion of a cable containing halogens is highly corrosive and seriously affects electronic and computer equipment. The M-RZ1-K (AS) does not emit hydrochloric acid (HC1), thereby avoiding this type of damage.

3.- Low smoke emission: This cable avoids loss of visibility due to smoke produced by cable combustion, thereby making the evacuation of people and the performance of rescue personnel easier.

4.- Great power: The cross linked polyethylene insulation (XLPE) allows greater power transmission as well as a higher resistance to overloads. Additionally, it raises the maximum conductor temperature to 90º C (vs. 70º C in type NYY or VV cables).

5.- Fire proof properties: The no fire propagation properties of the M-RZ1-K (AS) cable contributes towards improving the overall safety of the installation.

6.- Ecological: The M-RZ1-K (AS) cable does not contain any halogenated materials, thereby avoiding dioxin emissions into the atmosphere.

2/5/2007 New Product Release

MEGA Electronics Inc. introduces the new high isolation DC/DC converter series. The new M1WG and M1WH series (1 Watt), M2WG and M2WH (2 Watt) series are available with 6kV isolation voltage tested for 1 minute. The parts are available with both single and dual outputs and come in SIP or DIP packages, the DIP package being UL listing. Ambient temperature ranges from –40C to +85C without derating and efficiencies achieve 85%. 10kV isolation voltages are available in our M1WY with 1Watt of power and M2WY with 2Watts of power. These devices make excellent isolation barriers for medical applications with patient contact.

12/20/2006 Agency/Certification Update

Underwriters Laboratory has added additionally listed AC/DC converters to the MEGA line of DC/DC converters. The converters can be found under the UL file number E308433.

--2 pole and 3 pole versions
--OVE approved
--Accepts cable O.D. Ø8 - Ø24mm

7/19/2005: 30W converters, wide inputs, high temperature ranges
Mega's 30W Powerline converters are ideal for use in a wide field of applications. Divided into 2 series, with 2:1 input ranges of 9-18V, 18-36V and 37-75V series with 4:1 input ranges 10-40V and 18-75V can satisfy almost all applications in low voltage segment. The case for both series is made from nickel coated copper, offering a five sided shielding with dimensions of 50.8mm x 40.6mm x 10.2mm. The converters are fully potted which meets the highest requirements in terms of vibration and thermal considerations resulting in very high operation temperature ranges and low thermal impedances.

Both series are UL-60950 certified and meet the requirements from EN-55022 (Class A) in terms of conducted and radiated noise as well as EN-61000 in terms of immunity against external interferences. The converters offer a control pin for remote ON/OFF switching via open collector outputs for very fast rising of output voltage compared to a total primary OFF of the whole converter. Using the trim-pin allows the adjustment of the output voltage in a range of ±10% across the nominal output voltage.

Because of their high efficiency, the converters can be used in higher ambient temperatures like sender/receiver units for toll collection stations, where they have been optimized to be able to work at ambient-temperatures of +85°C.

5/16/2005: Mega’s new 12Watt Powerline-Series RP12-xxxxSA/DA
For single outputs of 3,3V, 5V, 12V and 15V and RP12-xxxxDA for dual outputs of +/-5V, +/-12V and +/-15V is now available for nominal 12,V, 24V and 48V inputs, all with 2:1 input range. Highest power-density of full 12W housed in a standard DIP24 nickel -coated copper case can be achieved via top-rated-efficiency up to 87%. In terms of power-density this DC/DC converter series sets a new standard. Five side continuous shielding and high sophisticated engineering and manufacturing ensures to meet EMC considerations following EN55022, class A as well as EN61000-4-2 to -4-6 Performance Criteria 2. This series can be used at -40°C....+85°C operating temperature (with natural convection cooling, at ambient-, not case-temperature!)..
April 14, 2005: A new product has been added to Mega's product portfolio: High efficiency, non-isolated step-down regulators for point-of-load applications with 1,2V to 5V input types offer 5 different outputs of 1.0 to 5.0V at 2A, 3A or 4A. The other series is designed to offer wide input ranges like 9-28V for 3,3V, 5V, 9V and 12V outputs at 1A or 2A. Both series can have their output voltage trimmed via external resistors and only 2 external capacitors are needed. Efficiency of these 2 series is significantly above 90%, some even up to 97%! These new products offer the ideal solution for distributed power with minimal PCB space requirements.
March 23, 2005: MEGA is now capable of supplying the C19 connector for applications in Japan requiring 15A/250V. The connector is produced with VCTF3x2.0mm and the N6/15 plug.
March 22, 2005: UL Section 103.4 required that the grounding of hospital grade cords longer than 10 feet (3.05m) shall be no smaller than 16AWG.

UL has eliminated this requirement, meaning that hospital grades longer than 10 feet may now be 18AWG.
December 8, 2004: MEGA has added the EN60309 100A 120/208A 5 pin IP67 plug to our offering. The new plug carries UL/CSA and CE for worldwide shipping.
