· Optical Fiber (typically 250 micron with coating) is routed through custom channels on standard FR-4 PC board material.
· The fiber is routed throughout the board material with custom layouts that allow for the individual fibers to turn and cross while still maintaining the minimum fiber bend radius.
· The fibers can be routed individually or in groups to ensure that the skew of critical lines is reduced.
· The fibers can enter or exit the board from custom access holes or from the board edge and are protected from damage with Furcation tubing.
· Custom brackets provide strain relief at all critical bend areas.
· The Optical Panel is covered with Flame Retardant Kapton Film to provide protection and keep all fibers firmly in place.
· This flexible design can be repaired by allowing replacement of individual circuits within the panel.
· The optical fiber can be terminated with a variety of singlemode or multimode connectors including MTP, LC, SC, FC, ST, MU, and others.
· Options include: other board materials, other fiber types, hybrid designs that include both copper and optics, and use of on board connector adapters to allow for direct plug in and elimination of pigtails protruding from the panel.

The Optical Panel can be used to route and connect complex fiber optic circuits in a variety of locations such as backplanes, midplanes, and motherboards. These many features result in an Optical Panel that is rugged, repairable, and more economical than Optical Flex Circuits.
